Medical physics has yet to make an appearance in the ever-expanding blogosphere. That is, until now.
MDPhysics.com was created in March 2009 by a medical physicist to give the medical physics community a voice on the internet by being an all-inclusive weblog: giving all physicists the ability to write posts via an op-ed form as well as the ability to leave replies and comments on all posts. All posts and replies are immediately searchable and remain on the WWW, being archived and organized into proper category topics on the site for future reference. Within a few months of its launch, the site has grown to include a medical physics job board, a searchable database of medical physics funding opportunities as well as an events calendar marking important meetings and symposia for those in medical physics. MDPhysics.com aims not only to facilitate communication and information sharing between medical physicists across the globe, but also to become a resource for professional information for the entire medical physics community.
While new technologies and new ways of doing things take time to embrace, it is my hope that the medical physics community will embrace MDPhysics.com and Web 2.0 as a whole to enhance our profession’s development and growth.
